  • How long will the crochet braids last?
Crochet braids can last from 6 weeks to 3 months with proper care. Hairstyle longevity is highly dependent on the client as well as the hair/hairstyle in question.
  • How do I maintain my crochet braids?
It is very important to cover your hair with a bonnet or scarf at night before bed. For some styles you will be required to trim the hair as needed. It is also very important to moisturize your scalp with oils or hair grease while wearing crochet braids.
  • Can I wash my crochet braids?
While I do not advise it, crochet braids can be washed at your own risk. However, due to the fact that the hair is synthetic, the hair may tangle and curls may be lost. If you wash your crochet hair, let it air dry. Heat causes synthetic hair to straighten.
  • Can I blow-dry and/or press my crochet braids?
Heat causes synthetic hair to become straight and shiny. Therefore, if the hair was curly it will be straightened and may require a re-curl to get it back to its original state. If you have straight hair, blow-drying on low heat will help the hair to become straight and silky. Be careful when using a flat iron and/or curling iron, direct contact with the synthetic hair may cause the hair to melt or burn.
  • What kind of hair is used for your crochet braids?
All of the hair used for my styles are synthetic hair. Please be advised that the specific brand name may not be revealed due to PhirstLadey’s trade secret policy.

  • Do you fix crochet braids done by another stylist?
No, unfortunately I don't. The reason is because I use very particular braid patterns for my crochet techniques. Therefore, adding more hair or trimming/shaping the hair will not automatically correct the hairstyle. I recommend taking the hair down and having it completely redone.
  • How do I remove my crochet braids?
To remove your crochet braids, first use a scissors to cut the crochet hair about an inch from cornrows. Then, pull the knots out. For best results, use a crochet needle or pointed tooth comb to help lift knots. When you have successfully removed all of the hair, start unbraiding cornrows. If you are still having trouble schedule a Take Down.
